ANE 5kW pitch controlled wind turbine supplies power for the Antarctic Tarzan Station Micro Grid system continuously
The Antarctic Tarzan Station locates at the place between the Zhongshan Satation and the Kunlun Station which is on the top of A ice dome of Antarctic. The distance is 520 km and 740 km from the two stations. It the second Antarctic Inland Expedition after the Kunlun Sation which are all built by China. The altitude is 2621 meters, the annual average temperature is minus 36.6 degrees, the extreme low temperature can reach minus 60 degrees, and the climate is very harsh. So it is designed for special use in summer.
The Antarctic Tarzan Station was constructed in 2014. In order to realize the full new energy power supply air, the projectors installed 2 sets of AH-5kW pitch controlled wind turbine in period of the 35th Antarctic Expedition in 2018, then continued to install 2 sets in period of the 36th Antarctic Expedition in 2019. Until now the project was completely finished. Therein the whole system includes 20kW wind power (4*5kW) and 40kW solar panel, to feed the station via new energy fully in summer. In this project, project uses our self-developed patent small wind turbines. These wind turbines reach to the top level technology in the small wind turbine field in the world.
This new energy system can meet the electricity requirement in period of on duty completely in summer. Then starts the backup diesel generator under the extremely weather or peak power consumption. This ensure the power supply stable and safety. In winter, the station will be powered supply by the new energy system completely with no guard condition. So from April to October , our 4sets of 5kW pitch controlled wind turbines will be the only power source in period of the polar night. These wind turbines ensure the power supply for the scientific research equipment and station equipment. It is great!
